The second day of the new family sailing program and social race series is this Sunday.

The program for this Sunday is planned to be as follows:-

  • 11h00 to 13h00 - Supervised Youth Sailing from the beach in front of the VCYC club
  • 13h00 to 14h00 - Lunch Break (Vt200 sausage sizzle available from VCYC bar)
  • 14h00 to 16h00 - Races 1 and 2 of the new 2016 dinghy race series
  • 16h00 to 17h30 - Happy Hour at the VCYC bar

The Sunday Program In More Detail

The Supervised Youth Sailing is intended for youth of all sailing abilities and will be conducted using the VCYC RS Tera and RS Quba sailboats. Sailors are also welcome to use their own sailboats.

The VCYC will have two committee members on hand to provide free basic sailing tuition and to ensure proper safety is practiced at all times.

Sailors using the VCYC sailboats will however need to pay the standard members rate of Vt1,000 to use the club owned RS Tera and Vt2,000 for the RS Quba sailboats. Please note that this rental fee is per boat and not per sailor which means cost may be reduced simply by sharing the boat with a sibling, friend or another sailor.

To maximise available time and allow for a structured tuition program it is suggested that youth wanting to participate in the Sunday morning session arrive no later than 10h45. Late arrivals will of course still be welcomed.

A Lunch Break will be taken from 1.00 till 2.00pm.

You are most welcome to bring your own picnic lunch and enjoy the whole day at the VCYC club and our wonderful clean sandy beach. A Vt200 sausage sizzle will be available to purchase from the bar for anyone who prefers to not self-cater.

For safety reasons, and to allow adequate time for sailor changeover, the VCYC club owned sailboats may not be sailed during the lunch break.

Social Fun Sailing Races for all ability of sailors will start at 14h00 sharp.

Skippers briefing for this Sunday's race will be at 13h45 and all sailors wanting to race are requested to please attend the briefing.

The VCYC club owned RS Tera, RS Quba and Laser sailboats are able to be rented by sailors wanting to race who do not own a boat or by those just wanting to try sailing a different boat to their own.

VCYC Club Owned Sailboat Rentals

The VCYC have brand new club owned RS Tera, RS Quba and Laser sailboats available to rent.

Rental prices are structured according to the value of the boat and the rental period and VCYC members pay up to half the rental fee charged to non-members, making joining the club a worthwhile proposition for anyone who may rent a sailboat more than once.
