Weekly News Update

After a welcome break from sailing this past weekend we should all be looking forward to getting back on the water, racing and having fun sailing!

In this week's newsletter:-

Bart's Bash International Regatta

Barts Bash 2015

Bart's Bash International Regatta 2015 will be sailed / raced by over 4,600 sailors at a total of 452 venues in 61 countries, including Vanuatu on Sunday 20 September.

The VCYC Bart's Bash will be an early morning race this Sunday followed by a sausage sizzle brunch after which everyone will have adequate time to get up to Mele for the afternoon and start of the 2015 Pro Medical survivor games fundraiser.

It is really very important that all sailors please enter and participate in the VCYC Bart's Bash.

The VCYC / VNSA have lodged a funding request, for a considerable amount of money, to the Andrew Simpson (Bart's) Sailing Foundation. That we display visible solidarity and support for Bart's Bash this Sunday will hence play a crucial part in the success of our funding application from which everyone will benefit.

The program for this Sunday is as follows:-

  • 08h00 - VCYC Gates open, rig your boat and get ready to sail
  • 08h45 - Skippers Briefing
  • 09h00 - VCYC Bart's Bash Regatta
  • 11h00 - Sausage Sizzle Brunch

All our sailors / members are reminded to please click here to enter online (it is free!) and for more information on this world record event.

New VCYC Committee Member

The VCYC is delighted to announce the nomination and election of Marc Antoine Morel to the VCYC committee.

Marc has accepted the role of Rear Commodore and we can all look forward to benefiting from his expertise and an exciting new social program for both sailors and their families.

VCYC September / October Sailing Program

So that we may all plan ahead and not miss out any sailing the organised race and social program for the next few weeks is as follows:-

  • 27 September - VCYC Dinghy Series 2 Race 1 & 2

  • 18 October - Lay Day Weekend (no organised races but you can still sail for fun)
  • 25 October - VCYC Series 3 Race 1 & 2

As always race entry is free, the emphasis is on competitive fun and everybody is welcome!

I look forward to you joining us, on or off the water, at the new VCYC club premises and bar at the Port Vila Boatyard for Bart's Bash this weekend.

Wishing your fair winds and good sailing.
