VCYC Christmas & Seasons Greetings

With the holidays, merriment and family reunions already well under way we wish all VCYC members, their families and friends a safe, joyful and fun filled Christmas and festive season.

I also take this opportunity to thank everyone who put in so much work to make the VCYC Christmas party the huge success it was as well as to everybody who joined us celebrating a year of really awesome sailing.


VCYC Sailors Head to ISAF Youth World Sailing Championship

Two VCYC sailors, Sydney Pettitt and Manu Lore, depart from Port Vila airport this Saturday afternoon to race and represent Vanuatu in the 2015 ISAF Youth World Sailing Championship ( in Langkawi, Malaysia from 28 December 2015 till 04 January 2016.

Of special interest is that Manu will achieve the accolade of being the first ever Ni Vanuatu to represent our nation in the sport of sailing at world championship level.

You may post encouragement for and read daily updates of our sailors progress in the world championship on the VNSA Facebook page

I wish both our sailors good luck, fair winds and the experience of a lifetime!


VCYC 2016 Dinghy Race Series

The first two races of the VCYC 2016 dingy race series will be Sunday 17 January 2016. Skippers briefing will be at 1.30pm and the start of the first race at 2.00pm.

Sailors who do not yet own their own boat, or who would like to try sailing a different boat, are now able to rent use of one the newly acquired VCYC sailing dinghies. More detailed info on cost and how to book yourself a sailboat will be in the next newsletter.

As always the emphasis at VCYC club races is competitive fun and everybody is welcome to join in, both on and off the water.


VCYC Dinghy Sailing Taster Open Day

To help kick start the 2016 dinghy sailing season an open day for anyone interested in trying their hand at sailing will be held at the VCYC club (Port Vila Boatyard) from 2pm on Saturday
16 January 2016.

In addition to offering you, your family and friends an opportunity to sail on one of the VCYC's brand new RS Tera, RS Quba or Laser sailboats the open day will double as a membership recruitment drive.

Those wanting to take their sailing experience to the next level and learn to sail properly will be able to register for the new series of sailing tuition courses to be offered by the VCYC over the weekends following the open day.

Please do show your support for the club, come along for great day out and to welcome new members to the VCYC.
